Day 1: HANOI - HALONG BAY - LAN HA BAY

08:30	Luxury van picks you up at your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter. Enjoy the landscape of the Red River Delta on the way to Ha Long Bay.
11:30	Arriving Tuan Chau Marina, have check-in procedures at waiting lounge.
12:15	Transfer to Orchid Cruises by a feedder boat. Welcome aboard, we'll have some welcome drinks and gather at the restaurant for a cruise briefing and some safety instructions.
13:00	Passenger will be taking lunch while cruising Ha Long Bay - one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
15:00	We progress to Dark and Bright Caves, the ideal place for you to get up and close to Ha Long Bay by bamboo boat or kayak.
17:00	Orchid Cruises enters a less populated area at Tra Bau - Lan Ha Bay. Enjoy a nice swim in the green emerald water.
18:00	Onboard you may join a cooking demontration, enjoy the Happy Hour (buy 1 get 1) at the bar while watching the view of the bay at sunset. Option: Massage service available. Please book with our Cruise Manager directly.

07:00	We will have breakfast at the restaurant while continuing the cruise.
07:45	Kayaking activities at Ao Ech area is held to discover the hidden charm of Ha Long - Lan Ha Bay.
08:30	Orchid Cruises welcomes you back on board and it is time for checking out.

08:45	Boarding Orchid day boat to visit Viet Hai fishing village. Cycling along the village (Optional electric car service is available) to enjoy the stunning landscape of Cat Ba rain forest and dark tunnels, witness the scenery of rice field, visit the ancient house, get closer to local life.
11:00	Return to the boat and enjoy lunch.
14:00	Visit Bao Trai Dao (Three peach islets), this peaceful body of water has beautiful scenery, making it the perfect place for scenic kayaking or relaxing on sandy beach.
17:00	Back on Orchid Cruises and have some Tapas prepared by chef. It's time to contemplate the magnificent sunset over the Gulf of Tonkin while having few drink during Happy Hour at our bar on the top deck.

From the second we were picked up we felt like royal guests.
We were taken to a port where there was a small lobby. Air-conditioned and complimentary snacks/water/coffee. In that time they were loading our luggage. We then went on a small boat to get to the cruise.
We were met with a warm welcome. It was such an exciting time. The rooms were perfect. Much better than I anticipated. The floor to ceiling windows and private balcony...and the bathtub!!!
Food was the best food I have probably ever tasted. The whole family agreed that the food was superb. All fresh and made from scratch. Plentiful and nothing was too much trouble. I could write a review on the food alone and I'm not even a foodie!!
Every single staff member made us feel like honored guests.
It was a dream of two nights that went way too quickly. It felt like complete indulgence to be so well taken care of. The day trips were great.
It would have been nice not to transfer to a day boat to reach the excursion but if you have passengers that need to leave(as they booked one night) then they take the boat.
I can't imagine one night. The two we did flew by and we wish we could have stayed longer.
All crew were incredible, every single one!!
The cruise manager for the first night was funny and just awesome. He made it clear to bother him ANYTIME with any request. Lovely man.
Lana really made a big impression on our family. She is a remarkable woman. She led the tours with such grace.
She added personal touches to the tours and is very knowledgeable. She obviously cares deeply about the area and the cruise line company. They are extremely lucky to have her.
When we arrived back to port our ride to the next hotel was too small. Lana did her absolute best to remedy the situation. Made calls for us, spoke to the driver. At this point, she was doing this out of the kindness of her heart as we were no longer her responsibility. She had new passengers, it was pouring with rain and must have had a million things going on. We are thankful she took the time.
It rained quite a bit as we booked the rainy season. No big deal, we live in a country where it rarely rains. The cruise line staff, however, did their absolute best to keep us dry. They provided waterproof bags and jackets. They seriously thought of everything.
Large cruise ships could learn so much from this crew. Their hospitality, the food. The list goes on!!
We learned that this cruise does their best to protect the environment. All food waste goes back to land to be used for animal feed. They actively take part in cleaning the bay. Halong Bay has pollution, there's no denying it. Orchid Cruise cannot clean this bay alone and just one cruise recycling isn't going to fix this but we felt good not to be contributing.
We were surprised to get internet occasionally. That was great news for our teens. The TV had decent English speaking channels which was also a pleasant surprise! Of course, none of these were essential with the view of Halong Bay.
It is a truly beautiful, magical place. This is an awesome experience of a lifetime. I am so happy our family went with this company and we met Lana and all the amazing staff who are an absolute credit.
If you don't do anything else while in Vietnam, do this!!!
