9 Days Saigon To Angkor Wat Tour Through Mekong Delta

• 07:30: Pick up at your hotel in Saigon and leave for Mekong Delta.
• 10:30—11:00 reach the banks of the Mekong Delta in Cai Be.
• You embark on our private Authentic Mekong Sampan with a welcome drink.
• 11:15 Disembark for a pleasure bike on the footpaths of the countryside to discover tropical fruit orchards
• Return on boat
• Authentic Mekong Sampan sets sails toward Sadec, a nice and quiet town overlooking Mekong river while lunch is served on boat.
• In Sa Dec surroundings, visit the brick factories and observe the handicraft manufacturing of bricks and tiles made out of clay from rice plantations.
• In Sa Dec town, see the Cao Dai Temple, the local market and the ancient house Huynh Thuy Le.
• Embark on a lovely walking excursion on the blossoming flower bonsai garden.
• Back on board, Authentic Mekong Sampan sails down Mekong River toward Mythuan.
• Sit back and relax on the upper deck. As the sun sets, experience a traditional herbal foot massage before enjoying an exotic pre-dinner drink.
• Dinner and night on board.

Rising up early for another nice day we contemplate sunrise while having breakfast on board.
Our boat set sails again and cruises along the Mekong while taking in orchards and gardens toward Cai Be.
Explore Cai Be floating market on a local boat then visit local coconut and rice sweet factories,
Embark on a pleasant walk in Dong Hoa Hiep village on the footpaths of the countryside to discover the ancient house, tropical fruit orchards and local people's daily activities. Sample local sweets and fruits during the trip.
Get off in Cai Be harbour around 11.00 AM. The cruise concludes and meet our driver again for the transfer to Chau Doc, the border town with Cambodia. Overnight in Chau Doc.

This morning we will have a boat ride from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh departing at 7:30am. The boat takes us along the Mekong River. It continues on to the Vietnamese (Vinh Xuong) - Cambodian (Kaom Samnar) border and then to Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia. The journey takes approximately 4-5 hours. Arrival transfer our hotel in Phnompenh, the capital of Kingdom of Cambodia. A visit to Phnom Penh is a very interesting experience indeed. It is a city with an interesting pulse and it gives you a very true taste of Asia. We will visit the Wat Phnom, Silver Pagoda and Royal Palace. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Morning, take the trip to CHEOUNG EK KILLING FIELD

The peaceful stretch of green fields of Cheung Ek may not indicate what kinds of horrors have taken place there. Situated 17km from Phnom Penh town, Cheung Ek was made famous by the movie “The Killing Fields”. Nowadays, a large memorial has been built to commemorate the 17,000 victims who died here under the reign of Khmer Rouge leader, Pol Pot. The remnants inside the memorial and the mass graves that dot the area remind you of the suffering of the victims. This journey into Cambodia’s past will provide you with a background on the cruelty of the Khmer Rouge regime. It will also give you an appreciation of the struggle that Cambodian people have faced and their tremendous courage to move on and rebuild their nation.
After visiting the Killing Field, transfer straight to Phnom Penh airport for the flight to Siem Reap at 13:55. On arrival in Siem Reap at 14:50, you are met and transferred to the hotel. Then time at leisure to explore this small town and local market, etc…Overnight in Siem Reap.

Transfer to the archaeological site for the sunrise from the Phnom Bakheng, one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor, from where you will have a spectacular view of the Western Baray  and Angkor Wat Or sunrise at Srah Srang (those are the best places for sunrise watch)

Return to the hotel for breakfast or bring the Breakfast Takaway.

In the morning, visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat’s five towers symbolize Meru’s five peaks - the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat, the ocean beyond. 

Afternoon, visit the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk), the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century), Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Morning, transfer to Banteay Srei temple (10th c), regarded as the jewel in the crown of Classical Khmer Art. Continue to Ta Prohm, one of the area’s most beautiful temples. Ta Prohm has been relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery.

In the afternoon, you continue your temple visits to Preah Khan. Built by the King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however, the temple of Prea Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool (representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake), Ta Som and Banteay Samre, built in the third quarter of the 12th century. It consists of a central temple with four wings preceded by a hall and accompanied by two libraries, the southern example remarkably well preserved. Two concentric walls enclose the ensemble.
